How likely are you to submit your elk head for testing in an area that's not mandatory? Some areas are mandatory and some are "suggested" if you're in a suggested area are you worried about it?

I am not personally worried about eating an elk that may potentially have CWD. In an area that is suggested I will try to get it tested just so they can keep up on their research. But in a situation like this year, where I shot a cow a few miles away from the truck, the last thing I was going to pack out was a cow elk head.

There's no research that suggests that eating a critter that has it will give you problems. All papers etc just say to take care when you process your animal. Just trying to be cautious. Our area in South Dakota has the suggestion but I personally don't know anyone that's had any animal tested.
