My name is Steve. I live in Kalispell, MT. I grew up in Missouri, near Lake of the Ozarks, and moved to Billings, MT with my Father, Mother and Brother in 1983, when I was 20. We grew up hunting turkey, squirrels, and whitetails back there, man what a jackpot when we came out here! I love Montana and could never live anywhere else. We have hunted most areas in Montana over the years. The Missouri Breaks were a main target in those days when we lived in Billings. I did a little guiding in Idaho in the 90's and now manage a materials lab in Kalispell, MT for an Engineering firm. We have utilized horses for most of the elk hunting since the guiding days. The replaced knee just can't handle backpacking any heavy weights very well. I've killed a few elk and deer and bears over the years. Some were pretty nice. I can't ever get enough information, and might even have some to give too, so this forum seems like a really good place for that. I remember in the good ole days of VHS going to the video rental store and renting every Eastman video we could find. I loved those films that Gordon made. I always remember the way he pronounced "ritual". My brother and I still say it that way to this day!

We hunt down the Swan quite a bit. Quite a few Griz and wolves down through there. Seems like the elk might be on the upswing though maybe? We're seeing quite a few from the road now down through the valley this year, more than recent past. Could just be the year though.
