I have never hunted in Wyoming and only gone after antelope one season with a bow (30+ stalks never getting within 100 yards). This year I am thinking I want to cash in my 2 points in Wyoming as a NR with a rifle. Can anyone offer up any tips? Have been looking into units 11, 42,43 and 103. I would like to go early October if possible and do not want to pay any extra for access. Sounds like a strictly public land DIY is a tall order but that's how I would like to do it. Any suggestions are appreciated. Also any tips on how to hunt checkerboard public land?

I don't know where you got that info for that statement, but that's a really easy thing to do. Pick a unit, and go hunt. If your willing to put effort in, you'll fill your tag.

With 2 points, there are several areas you can hunt strictly public land. Take a look at the MRS and the Wyoming Game and Fish web site to compare draw odds for areas with public access. You won't draw any premium areas with 2 points but you can draw plenty of areas with public land and antelope. The key here is to do your homework to find what you're looking for. If a member on here makes an area recommendation for you, it will likely negatively impact the drawing odds for that area to the point you may not be able to even draw it.

Go Deep and Hilltop make great points. I would add using a gps with a Wyoming OnX Map chip for hunting the public land. There is a lot of land to cover they help to navigate to stay legal. They can literally pop up anywhere in that country. Hunt hard, have fun and be safe!

Do not do your research though using the 2015 MRS Annual as it has 2014 and 2013 data in it.......I don't know why I thought it would have 2015 hunt data in it.....if I would have thought that through there is no way they could have got the data and went to print that quick. My bad but I feel like I just wasted the money on that one.

I just spoke with WY fish and game and they said they would have 2015 antelope and Deer stats in early may. Looks like il have to wait to really lock down my decision. Is any state, blm or public land open to hunting or are there some areas to watch out for?

The only public land you can't hunt is state land that is row cropped, which is not a lot of acres.
Also look at Access Yes, and HMA. Private land open to public hunting.
