There may be a little speculation in the first part of my post, but it was based on discussions with one of the two GWs that covers the TenSleep area who told me exactly what I stated. As far as the latter part of my post, it's all in the records and proceedings of what happened in that big bust of the Carter family. The old man was a known shady character for many years and before the game law violation bust was also involved in a big scam where he cheated the taxpayers out of millions in a milk commodity scam. People out in TenSleep that I've known for 15+ years had been telling me all about the family and suspicions that finally were true when they got busted for using landowner tags for paying nonresident customers in their guiding business. Old man Carter even stated right out in court that he didn't see anything wrong doing it even though it's a direct violation of the Wyoming statutes!

The cow hunt here in the Grand teton/Elk Refuge is hard to watch at times...There are unfortunately too many hunters who give us a terrible name in front of the biggest group of enviros who live in this area. I have multiple times witnessed what i would consider illegal pushing of elk and "herd" shooting. I had this tag years ago just to put meat in the freezer...after doing it once, i felt terrible for the elk and even more so felt like i had a better chance of being shot by someone, than the damn elk. There is a reason the environmentalists get so riled up and take pictures every year that shows bad hunting behavior. Every morning if you drive north, there is a line of orange sitting along the road pullouts hoping for a push of elk...then it just turns into a royal Sh** show at times. The biologists want this hunt because of the need to knock down the grand teton herd that never leaves the park, but it is definitely easy for these photographers to paint hunters in a terrible picture with some of the stuff that goes on. . There are definitely plenty of hunters who actually go out and get their cow safely and effectively, but there are to many instances of negligence that continue to paint hunters in a very bad light.

It would be very easy for them to stop that kind of garbage if they outlawed shooting within 1/2 mile of the couple main roads and made anyone with legal permits to leave their vehicles at the roads and bring the animal out to the vehicle on foot. That would immediately eliminate the biggest percentage of these slobs that are not hunters by any means.

This would eliminate 90% of those so called "hunters", which is a good thing. If they can't drive their trucks or avt's to an animal they aren't going to put in the effort. These slob hunter are to be found everywhere.

Hunted 61-6. First time hunting in Wyoming. Knew it wouldn't be easy going in but it was harder than I even thought. Very cold and had to deal with about 16 inches of snow that drifted bad a couple of days in. Saw a ton of elk. One of the biggest lessons I learned was if it looks like a mile in Wyoming its probably two miles. Started after some elk one day and two and half hours later we were still an hour from them. That and the openness of the country gave the elk a huge advantage. We either couldn't get to the elk or they were on the wrong side of the fence. Great hunt and what a game rich state. We did see one 30+ inch mulie. He was a stud typical 4-pt.
