Guys, Im just starting my search for a good place to hunt Mulies this coming season. It'll be a first for me in CO but am really looking forward to it. Dont necessarily need a drop camp, but any advice would really be appreciated. Im going to bow hunt, unless theres a unit to gunhunt with 0 PP. Thanks!!

Tenderfoot charges $1,500 per person. 8 days, 6 days hunting. They supply everything but personal gear & food. Check their website for all the details.

I have no connection to them, but have a fully guided hunt booked for 2016.

Lazy F Bar is probably the best deer guide service in the Gunnison valley but they don't do drop camps. All units in Gunnison take a couple preference points to draw an archery tag so think about that too, but you can get an outfitter to get you a landowner tag if you wanna pony up some cash.

I went with a group several years ago with Tenderfoot Outfitters. It was Fred's first year (we did a drop camp) and his second (we stayed at his base camp). We had 1 person each year shoot an elk. Fred is a very nice fella. Wonder if Tal still works for him? There was another younger guy who ran a lot in the mountains.....literally.....I can't think of his name. AWWW the view of the castles is still very real to me. :) I also remember those "stairways" back to cabbage basin. Anybody else know those stairways?
Are you talking about Kendall?

My cousin and I did a drop hunt with tenderfoot. Fred put us in the middle of great elk country. Nothing like falling asleep in a tent to the sounds of elk bugling. we hunted with bows- If we hunted with rifle, we both could have filled bull tags. The weather was a little warm but we still found them. I may go back and spike tent it myself in a few years.
