Those of you interested in applying for drawing permit hunts...the time is now and closes December 15.

Check out the ADF&G website for hunts and application process.

Good luck.

Alaska sure would be fun to hunt some day. I'm trying to talk the wife into a family vacation so we can get a feel for Alaska.

I entered this year for the first time in the black bear drawing for 2019. If I don't draw then I plan on going up there to hunt OTC deer in Aug-19.

It depends on what type of hunt you're looking for. There are plenty of good areas for black bear. Traditionally south east has the largest ones.
You might explore a boat-based hunt in south east or from the Kenai peninsula.

I know I'm hunting in Alaska in 2019.. I intend to put the license I bought to work.

Tomorrow I find out if it will be spring bear or an OTC deer hunt.

My buddy drew a Kodiak goat tag. Gotta live it through him for the year.
That's cool, I hope I draw that one again some day. Probably want happen, but I hope they reverse the ass-nine rule they made up about having to punch, both tags (mine and my Brother-in-law's) if I shoot a goat sheep or brown bear. I haven't put in for sheep and goat since then, because I feel too selfish, if he has to loose his tag for me. I suppose that's exactly what the outfitters had planned. Anyway good luck to your buddy. I'll be looking forward to seeing pics and reading the adventure.
