we should keep politics off hunting forums... It will make a friendly community of hunters turn south in a hurry.
If elected officials are going to make assaults on the hunting community where better to discuss the issues than on hunting forums?

Elections matter.

We should absolutely talk about politics when it pertains to hunting. We definitely should not act like children when doing so though and keep it civil. Which is REALLY hard for lots of people...

People are so jaded when they hear something they like. I am not supporting any candidate yet, but these candidates know very little about natural resources or wildlife. I work as a manager of Natural resources and have a degree in wildlife biology, I have been around it for many years. I am a forester by trade. Opinions are like assholes....you know the rest. No...and I mean NO candidate in the last 40 years has truly made natural resources a priority. Nothing done in Washington ever turned out pleasing everyone. I respect that you guys think this is a good place for a discussion. I listened to the interview, I just heard more blah, blah, blah.

I agree, but it is not like we have a lot of choices. Last I checked Theodore Roosevelt, Aldo Leopold and Gifford Pinchot are not running. So, we will have to chose between the lesser of several evils. I have not decided who that will be, but I know it will not be Cruz!

Maybe natural resources aren't a priority to most politicians but I remember hearing one politician say "they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion" and I don't want another 8 years of that.

I also recall another politician saying "read my lips no new taxes" oh yea guess he was just kidding. The same politician calling the NRA "jack booted thugs".
Another guy closely related to the first guy saying "mission accomplished" on the deck of an aircraft carrier safely moored in San Diego. Well we're still not done with that mission.

Ok so you're a Bush hater, I get it. I guess with that kind of logic you're saying that we should ignore what Obama said and he may in fact be a supporter America's gun owners. Hmm, I'll have to mull over that one for awhile. Good luck defending Obama's statement against America's gun owners.

In a debate a week or 2 ago Hillary and Bernie were each boasting of having a worse record than the other with the NRA. I heard them loud and clear.

The NRA gives Hillary an F while Bernie gets a D- so I guess Hillary won that argument.

I think we can agree that no politician is completely acceptable to everyone. I'm not a single issue voter either but I'm sure no fan of our current "vacationer in chief". For our purposes here I think it's perfectly acceptable to discuss our positions on wildlife related issues as they pertain to access to public lands, gun ownership, and wildlife management. I frankly don't want a president who spends to much time on the issues himself, let him try fixing all the other broken crap programs I have to support with my out-of-control taxes. I want him to appoint common sense managers who listen to the costituents and are responive to us. Unlike most of the clowns running USFW and EPA. Like we need more law suits protecting wolves and grizzlies, why can't I bring a dam lion or polar bear back home, they're going to die anyways, may as well end in my house!

While I'm not Donald Trump's biggest fan I do believe if elected he will listen to his 2 sons who hunt and are advocates for our sport.

At the present time, I see this as our best hope on the Republican side. I will be watching closely. I don't like how Trump waffled on the issue of transfer when asked about it during the Nevada primary. Cruz had accused him of being in favor of federal landownership. Trump said: I don't know anything about public lands...I don't know what Cruz is talking about. That is a bit like the Sergeant Schultz response...I see nothing...I know nothing...I hear nothing. When/if he stands public lands proud, he will probably get my vote.
