The application deadlines are a few weeks out. As crunch time nears, its time for me to ante up and make some final decisions. [emoji38]
With there being a chance of not drawing my buck mule deer or antelope tag, I'm looking at other tag ideas for an economical, yet fun, hunting vacation. Why would a hunter in Iowa want to shoot whitetail does in Wyoming? Well, the scenery, a chance to scout for other critters/bucks, and the ability to hunt with a high power rifle during the rut.
Take unit 24; it has unlimited reduced price doe Whitetail tags and has good success rates, but very limited public lands. I've got some time yet to contact landowners and plan to do so. All I can figure is there are pile of whitetails on the east slope of Bighorns and the Wyomians want them extirpated. [emoji2]
If anyone has hunted the doe tag in 24, how did it go? Was landowner access an issue (high trespass fees)? Are there other units that offer doe whitetail tags that are relatively easy to draw or usually available as leftovers? PM me if you prefer.
