do you leave your muzzy loaded overnight when camping?

I've had issues this past season with misfires using blackhorn 209 ! Push the load out and reload fresh in the morning is the best thing to ensure ignition. Load your gun and let it sit a few days and see if it will fire using several scenarios. Good luck and good shooting

Hunted UT elk in 2014 for 5 days never changing the load. Stored it in the truck at night. Went off and hit its target with no hesitation. I normally do not change my load unless the conditions have changed such as lots of rain or consistent rain. I guess if I was loaded any longer than 5 days I would shoot or change it out.

We use the BH209 and Thor combo. I'm on the fence at times. For the most part we follow these rules in camp.

1. Cold dry weather stored outside, never into a tent or warm area.
2. If it stays dry out will go max three days and download it, although have gone longer.
3. Tape on the barrel always.
4. If downloaded out the breech for the powder, sure as hell ain't shooting in camp.

I'm more of a archery guy but my recent experience (past few years) with the modern muzzleloaders that have been properly loaded and cared for..........and my thoughts were....something has to be really really wrong to misfire.

I wouldn't worry about condensation if your gun is staying outside. The only time your gun will sweat is if you take from the cold outside, and put it inside at room temp. If it's 20 degrees in the morning, and 70 in the afternoon, your gun will slowly warm up with the rising temps, but it won't happen fast enough to cause it to sweat. I would suggest leaving it outside at night so it stays acclimated to the temperature, out of the weather of course.

Ive had mine "sweat" both ways,,warm gun to cold air,and also cold gun to warm,,,keeping the gun,and powder, the same as outside temp is very important..cab of the truck works good for overnite,,,out of the weather but relatively same temp as outside generally is.I would still be leery to keep it in more than a few days at the most in perfect conditions.ive had 2 animals live in the past because of this mistake.powder and bullet are cheap compared to all the work, time, and money that goes into a hunt for that split second of opertunity?just sayin.co2 unloader at nite unloading doesn't foul the barrel like shooting it does.quiet too.
