I would encourage you to take a look at the Grand River National Grasslands in Perkins, Corson and Ziebach Counties. 154,000 acres of Federal land. Dispersed camping allowed anywhere on it. More civilized camping available at Shadehill Reservoir in the State Recreation Area. They also have camping cabins which are kinda nice. Lots of deer and antelope up there and well away from highways which bring people.

I?ve hunted down by Crawford as well. Beautiful country, plenty of deer and the park had cabins to rent for a very reasonable price. A few years back they use to give two deer tags and now they are down to one wise I would consider hunting down there again.

Grand River has quite a few people from the start of the season. Mainly because they can drive all of the service roads and not walk far. That's why I rarely hunt it anymore. Got tired of constantly getting drove up on a mile off of a road. They think because it is open ground that they can just drive up to the top of a hill and glass.

National Grasslands are just like National Forest, without the trees. Administered by the US Forest Service, as a US citizen its all yours to hunt and camp and enjoy. 154,000 acres mostly in Perkins County.
