Area 81 limited quota deer licenses can be reserved for 2017 due to Beaver Creek wildfire
LARAMIE – Closures on the Medicine Bow National Forest due to the Beaver Creek fire will impact a significant portion of the public access in Limited Quota Deer Hunt Area 81 during the 2016 hunting season. As such, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department is allowing hunters the option of reserving 2016 Limited Quota Deer Hunt Area 81 type 1 license for the same hunt area in 2017.
Wyoming Game and Fish Commission Regulations Chapter 44, section 22 allow for license holders who are “unable to use their license for good cause” to reserve their license one time for the next succeeding calendar year. Due to the administrative closures of the federal government in the area of the Beaver Creek fire, hunters may, at their discretion, return their unused Limited Quota Deer Hunt Area 81 license to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department no later than Thursday, Sept. 1 and reserve a license for the same species, hunt area and season type for the immediate succeeding calendar year only.
The Game and Fish Department is contacting affected hunters and has mailed license reservation request forms. Anyone who possesses a Type 1 limited quota deer license for Hunt Area 81 who did not receive a request form, or anyone with questions, should contact the Laramie Regional Office at (307) 745-4046.
The Beaver Creek fire has been actively burning since June 19 along the Colorado and Wyoming border. More information on the Beaver Creek fire and associated administrative closures can be found at http://inciweb.nwcg.gov.
