He might next year. I have 1 13"+ buck tag (which is asinine) for the county and plan on using it on a different place.

That dude looks great this year, so hopefully he sticks around and will be a mega buck next year. I know a lot of people don't like the new antler restrictions in Texas, but it should help the deer quality some. I know my father in-law wasn't thrilled about their county having the restrictions, but you can already see a difference being made.

Nice! You can only get 1 buck tag? Ouch.
I can use 2 in the county, but one has to be a spike & I'm not shooting one of the yearlings just to fill a tag. Can shoot a total of 3 bucks in Texas off state license, so if I hunt our surrounding counties I can shoot 3 over 13" wide.

It's kind of a slap in the face to people who already had their properties managed without TPWD involvement. Now to get your numbers killed you have to go MLD or shoot up your yearling age class.

It'll help places with a high hunter density, but trail cameras becoming cheap technology seems to have done more. People now have visible confirmation that there are good deer to hunt even if they are nocturnal, when in the past they had to sit on a stand to see them.
