If you are applying for a specific tag, for example Unit 2, 10, 61, 201 for elk, you usually know if you are in the draw pool of not, until then you are just "waiting for the right time".

This year for me is hopefully "the right time". :)
Just curious, did you end up applying for 2 or 61? My friends were in 2 last weekend shed hunting and they found a couple pretty good ones.

I know you were asking UH, but I applied for unit 2 archery with 16 points, doubt I'll draw it. Nice to know they found a couple good sheds. Also applied for archery moose.

Applied for everything as usual. Looking to draw elk muzzy with 6 points, rifle bear with 4 points and really, really, really hoping to get a goat tag this year!

Not yet. But hunting the same area this fall. So, when the snow melts I'll be back in there for scouting. Hope to find them. :)
Good luck. I truly hope you find them. Your first buck is so special and it's antlers will always bring back memories of that 1st adventure. That was so cool how it was your first hunt, you had never skinned an animal and yet you got it done! Congrats again.

Just an elk point. I'm new to the western hunting but hope to use some wyoming point on the first western hunt this year for mule deer and antelope. Then one day have the points needed to try for a decent elk area in colorado in particular unit 49. Tagged along with my girlfriends dad out there last year and hope to learn the area over the next few years. Good luck to all you guys that are burning points.

There are much better choices than unit 49 if you are accumulating points. They kill almost half of the legal bulls in that unit every year so it doesn't leave much for mature bulls.
