Agreed! That hunt has me pumped for summer when I can finally reach the high country! The worst part about being almost 130% snowpack is that its gonna be a LOOONG time til I can get up there, oh well, to Google Earth I go!

Loved the episode. Wish it could have been a 1 hour special or something. Is there an extended version available on DVD? I will pick it up at the Salt Lake ISE if there is.

Elkoholic307, that is exactly what I thought, that is some steep country. I was having a hard time breathing just thinking about the elevation, and steepness. Great episode!

I am just getting to the last chapter of his book I bought last week, what an excellent resource. The way he breaks down what he looks for in hunting areas and tactics so thoroughly is great. I've read alot of hunting books, but I don't think I learned this much from any of them. I may pack it along on my next hunt so when I start scratching my head after dark I can "ask the expert". Thanks for a great resource David.

I Tivo'd that episode and just watched it tonight. That is one of the best episode's of any hunting show that I have ever seen. Absolutely phenomenal.

I'm assuming that was public land right? Was it a draw or OTC? I don't need a unit number, just curious about the general circumstances that he was hunting. Definitely has got me excited about doing a hunt like that and now I'll have to buy his book!!!

Buy his book. I've read it a few times and it gets better each time. The unit is a draw unit on public land. Been down there and it is nasty, rugged country and very beautiful.

That unit is not OTC. It is a draw, and 100% public land. Great country, but not for the faint of heart.

i enjoy all of their high country archery mule deer hunts. it seems like eastman's is the only crew that can pull it off. another good book is mike eastman's "hunting high country mule deer". i made the mistake of buying it a few years ago, and i can't resist the urge to pursue those guys. i lived in TX for a few years as a kid, and watched my dad shoot a mulie, but a completely different kind of hunt (and animal) than the mountain version. i can't give up the elk every year, so next year i will go for elk and mulies in WY, maybe speed goats, too.

Just received my latest EBJ and was sad to read that David Long will no longer be with Eastman. Was excited that he will be writing another book though!
