With many states having laws against transporting brain matter through their state, how do you legally get it back home if traveling across these states?
This is assuming I want to skull mount the animal once I get home. I know people "risk" it every year but you always hear of 1 or 2 horror stories where everything is confiscated and the hunter is fined.

Find a pressure washer and start spraying would be my guess, if you can find one that's strong/hot enough you can clean the entire skull as well so there isn't a need to boil. I've done all of our euro mounts that way and I've never had any problems

I've cut the back of the skull cap off before and removed the brain matter and spinal cord. Once mounted it's not noticeable, and you can completely remove all the bits that may get you in trouble with our friendly conservation officers. First chance I get ill try to post some pics to show how I did it.

Scapel, screw driver, borax, car wash and a lot of nasty work.

You could also bring a electric hot plate and a pot to simmer one in. Less than a hour is all you need to "clean" it.

Here's some pics of my first dink mule deer. Got him in Montana, so had to remove brain/spinal cord before we headed home with him. All it takes is a bone saw to remove the skull cap, and a flat head screwdriver or a stick to get everything out.
