This is a simple way to enjoy a tougher cut of meat. Add a small pork roast with some fat to the wild game roast, with a little water. Cover with a package of dry Lipton onion soup mix, and cut up one onion. Cover and put on high for about an hour, then simmer on low for the rest of the day. It's fine to put the meat in frozen. If you need to be gone all day, it's fine to just put it on low and vacate. You can get way more complicated than this, but I find this hard to beat.

If I want to use the drippings for gravy, I'll use chicken broth to almost the top of the meat in the cooker, cook till it falls apart and enjoy.

If I want a savory treat with the remaining juices to put over noodles, rice, etc. Per 2-3 lbs of meat, one finely chopped onion, 1 pkg brown gravy mix, 1/4 cup soy sauce (prefer low sodium), 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce, 2 cups water, 3 tbs veg oil, 1 tsp garlic, 1 tsp ground pepper. Heat oil, sear meat, add all to crock pot, put in water/pepper/garlic/soy/Worcester/ etc, all but the gravy package. Chicken broth works too, but make sure the fluids are 1/2 or more up on the meat, if not almost covering it. Cook till done. You can then pull roast apart (or have started with cubes roast/stew meat), add gravy packet and another cup or so of water, bring to boil, serve over noodles.

Come on Tim. Cheap beer? My wife only drinks Coors Lite and I don't drink beer so I'm limited to the BEST beer on the planet. LMAO

Your recipe sounds awesome. I'm going to be butchering a deer and antelope this weekend and I'm going to try it. (With CL) ha

Yes I'm almost to Ivory's house. Picking him up on the way. I think I'm only 8 hours out. Have the moose ready when we get there, we will be starving. Dang roadtrip.

Lol...y'all are stoopid! I do like moonshine and banjo music but don't think boys have a pretty mouth. Dang that just sounds bad. Never had potato vodka but ain't scared to give it a try. Just get that darn moose meat in the crock pot, would ya. After the night fishing we headed that way. Hummmm??? Wonder if the bee pattern will work at night?? Guess we will find out. Hope the runoff ain't too bad but I'm sure it is. See y'all in a bit.

Don't use good, or expensive beer in the crock on my recipe. you would be better off using water than a beer with lots of flavor. A guy at worked tried it with an expensive beer, it did not come out as good.

We add a can of cream of mushroom and a cup of sour cream to our elk roast once it's mostly finished (an hour from done or you can use the mushrooms to judge doneness) and have the most awesome stroganoff. The elk roast itself cooks with chicken broth and the normal roast seasonings. It's fantastic. My favorite elk dish.
