cranky bears

A humorous incident last night in the south part of Anchorage...A black bear crashed thru a 11 year old kids bedroom window while the boy was in bed. The boy escaped his room unscathed and apparently the bear escaped back out the way it came in. It made a heck of a mess in the room first however.
Nobody is quite sure why the bear wanted to come in. It may have reacted to his reflection in the glass or maybe chased by dogs???
All's well that ends well, I suppose! I think the bear was as surprised as the kid though!

So are you saying we should stay out of the woods and their habitat? That won't happen. IMHO if I lived in Alaska (or any place that has a lot of bears close to people, I would never go anyplace without bear spray on my belt. It would be MY concealed carry.

My wife and I are planning a 2 month RV trip to Alaska next summer and we both will have bear spray on our person when we are out in bear country, IMHO better insurance than a handgun.

Well, it turned out to be a really horrible policy for the female biologist who was killed after spraying the bear.

Not me. Buffalo Bore Hardcast on the way, and a 10mm before we travel to grizzly country.

Admittedly, I am a better than average shot with a handgun.
