Camofire has this clothing on sale all the time. I've bought a couple of beanies and really liked them but not sure on the rest. Does anyone use this gear and whats your opinion on it?

I used a few pieces of it last year and loved it! I am excited for some of the new line coming out for 2013, Core4 will have a few different insulating layers to choose from, including a waterproof treated down jacket. I don't think you can go wrong with Core4. I have a review of some of their stuff on my blog if you want to check it out.

I own the entire system and I own the entire Sitka system. They are very similar in feel, comfort and warmth. I would highly recommend the clothing. I used it last year on an elk hunt for a week and then also used it whitetail hunting. It's much more suited for mountain hunting compared to sitting in a free stand. I did get cold a couple a times in the stand even though I had 4 layers on.

My hunting partner has the entire line, and really likes it. I've got all the merino wool base layers, and love them. Their merino wool seems to be every bit as quality as the other brands like Smartwool. I've also got the switchback pant. Mine have help up nicely, but a few other guys I hunt with have had problems with snap buttons tearing off, etc.

Overall, for the price of the gear, I'm not sure it can be beat.

I've heard they sell darn good gear for the price. Does anyone know if core four element runs large or small? I'm 6' tall and weith 160 lbs. I'm thinking a medium but in some brands I'm a large.

dhershberger-

They run pretty true to size. I am 6' 165lbs and where is size large in the merino base layers. Not sure on pants or jacket.

You'll easily need the large. At 5'6 and about 150, I wear the medium, and it fits perfectly.

Which would you go with the torrent or the element outerwear? It looks like the torrent is made for rain, but which is better for mid 30s (possibly colder) and up with wind, rain, or sun?

I would go with the Element pant. The Torrent is rain gear. The Element is a little heavier weight pant that works well when it gets a little chilly, and if it warms up a little the vented zippers in the thigh area is great at letting in a little cool air. The DWR treating on the Element pant works pretty well for shedding a light rain or snow. Also the knee pads that come out real quick work great to put under your butt when you are glassing to keep the tush nice and comfortable.
