I am looking at purchasing a Zeiss Conquest HD5 3-15x50MM Z Plex scope but have some questions on the top and side turrets? It looks like the turrets can be turned to adjust for elevation and windage with the numbers shown on the turrets.
I have now shown my total lack of knowledge on this scope. If someone with a lot of patience can assist me it would be very much appreciated. I am not looking for any long range scope.

It appears that the turrets do not have caps on the scope but are locking?

You are right gman , it does have lockable target turrets that you can dial in for distance and wind age. They're nice scopes with excellent glass.
I have its predecessor and it has performed superbly for me.
Yes it is very suitable for long range shooting.

Are the hunting turrets for setting the left/right and up/down on scope for sighting only and not for long range hunting?

Yes and target are used for long/any range shooting.
Target turrets will be what you are wanting and hunting turrets are capped and basically used for sight in.
Hope I'm making sense in that explanation.
It's a really nice scope that will serve you well for long or any range shooting.

I'd get the z600 or z800 reticle to match my bullet...

I don't like adjusting turrents.
