Comfort in the backcountry

Does anyone bring along things for 'comfort'? Like a backpacking chair, pillow, or anything else?

A friend of mine got a small lightweight backpacking chair that looked really nice at the end of a long day, as I sat on the ground and he was comfortable.

I have a small back pack in pillow I take. Nothing like the one at home but it helps

The thing I miss the most is a chair to sit in. Sitting on the ground or logs gets old really fast. I have not bought the chair yet, but I will get it before summer.

I have a neat little foldup chair from Kifaru. It is just a couple telescoping poles attached to a sling chair. You're still sitting on the ground and you can add a pad if you want to. You have a good backrest, and for me that makes all the difference. I doubt if it weighs a pound.

Look at Alite designs monarch chair....real light and comfy....I also bring a small compression pillow.....

Sea-to-Summit ultralight pillow and sometimes a very thin pair of merino long underwear just for sleeping in. Generally though, I equate comfort with a light backpack.

Propane Boot Dryer....


I skimp on a lot of things to bring this along. I HATE having boots that are not COMPLETLEY DRY in the morning to put on...

I make homemade meals and freeze them. Then a couple days before I pack in for my 10 day hunt, I will take them in with dry ice in a YETI bag cooler. The combination of super freezing and YETI bag cooler will keep the chili, spaghetti, chicken fajitas, or whatever I choose to make, will stay frozen for most of the trip. The bag is very light coming out, and I reheat the food in a jetboil. Oh, I also pack in a two Sea to Summit blow up pillows.
