Got em scouted up. Mallards, Pintails, Teal, Buffleheads, Hooded Mergansers, Canada Geese and the Coot Army looks strong. Im gonna try and not shoot Teal on the opener and just pull the trigger on big ducks and geese.
Grassing in the sneak boat this afternoon.

Sweet.

That picture reminds me how I always used to add a dozen "goose and duck asses" to my spread when I hunted them heavy. Seems to make a difference.

Yep I agree. One goose ass going in the water today and two mallard asses/splashers.

2 man limit of ducks this am. Blue wing teal, green wing teal, widgeon, pintail and some mallards.

Great shoot, didn’t realize you had that variety of ducks in your flyway there & that early.

Yeah we are in that yellow. Mountain foothills zone. Ducks / geese open Oct 2 . No early teal up here so kinda like a big party all at once. I really wish my work schedule allowed me to have a dog. The muds terrible. My legs are hurtin a little this am. All in all very very thankful and gratefull we have the public land to do it on and my son Jack was able to get the day off.

Great shoot, didn’t realize you had that variety of ducks in your flyway there & that early.

Down here in the SW part of Colorado I have seen almost every kind of duck. Some are not as plentiful, but we have tons of Mallards year round. The 3 varieties of Teal, Widgeon, Gadwalls and a few Pintails. All of the divers on the local lakes. Lots of Canadas year round. I have seen a few snows and specs too. If a person works at it, they can get some great waterfowl hunting here.

We don't start down here til Nov 20, go thru end of January w 1 short break. Last 5-10 years, the hunting has been subpar. Few pins, widgeon, gads, mostly bluebills. Happy with teal if there are any around.

Son got a few drakes......and one with some bling!!! 1st one for our family after 3 years of waterfowl hunting.
