Hey guys. I have a unit 21tag for 2nd rifle season. I was wondering if anyone had any information about the quality of the deer being seen up there? I know the unit is a 160-180 caliber buck unit. What I don’t know is how the older bucks are doing (Winter kill, drought, etc.) also how plentiful they are? Do I need to be prepared to hunt hard for a solid deer or is it a hunt that you look over a lot of bucks and just have to age and score them well. I appreciate the help in advance.

Fun tag because you can see lots of deer, but it’s a tough hunt for the bigger bucks. Unless you have killed a bunch of big bucks, I would shoot the first 160 class deer you see. Quality has gone down over the years. You will see a lot of 3 points and crabby fronts.

I had a friend with the same tag last year. We saw a lot of deer like said above. Most bucks were the 140 to 160 range a few in the 170’s. My buddy killed a nice buck last day probably mid 170 fun hunt. Best of luck to you

If I can come close to my Utah buck, ill be happy,,ya never know if I can pull another one off like that one,but any unit 21 tips would be great,,leavin soon for unit 21,plan to spend the whole season looking.dont really know if unit 21 has improved over the last couple of years, but there have been some big ones pulled out in past years.

I ended up making a mistake close to the dark limit and got the biggest forked horn ive ever seen,,I swore he was a 4 pointer but hes 24 1/2" wide,,I should have taken a better look at him,but only had those "few seconds" to decide.let over 30 bucks walk over the hunt including 4x4s,,you don't ever do that in my home state,,fun hunt though.
