Expect the same caliber of deer. 201 is smaller and more rough. 2 is HUGE and deer are concentrated in a few areas and non-existent in other areas. In both areas, big deer exist but are rare. The awesome thing about those areas is the lack of hunting pressure and the amazing country. Personally, I would go with 2 for more country to hunt.Ken,
Stop in the new members section at tell us a little more about yourself so we can maybe help you better. Are you looking for a archery, muzzleloader, rifle hunt (which season)? Did you review the draw statisitics for these units?
Reviewing the draw statistics it appears you have better chances to draw 201 over 2. But it depends on what hunt you are looking at.
Thanks Work2Hunt.Ken,

Excluding the eastern plains units, I can only think of 3-4 units that might be better. Just curious what you think the other 10 units might be. Many units are better early while others are better late but I can't think of 10 that are better.Unit 2 and 201 are not considered two of the top trophy units any longer. There are probably 10 or more units that are better today.
I suppose it depends on what you mean by better? Those units see very little pressure. It's a special experience to hunt that much country virtually alone. Not may other areas of the state where you can do that. The country is awesome. There are big deer in those units, so the possibility exists. If a guy is looking for a B&C trophy, then there probably are at least 10 better units. If he's looking for a total experience and a chance to harvest a mature deer (regardless of score), then 2/201 would be awesome.Excluding the eastern plains units, I can only think of 3-4 units that might be better. Thanks Adam,I was in unit 2 last year during the 1st elk season and saw a decent amount of deer. Most bucks where young 150- 160 class bucks. Did come across a couple big ones that probably would have gone over 180. If you do draw this year send me message and I can give you a couple of places we saw deer.
