Congrats! Awesome bird man

Just curious, I have a spot that I hike through when Im heading up the mountain elk hunting during bow season in Colorado. We have seen several turkeys in that area everytime we hike through it. Would they be in roughly the same elevation during the spring turkey season as they are around September 1-10? It is NF land by the way.
I'm no expert but I'd definitely check it out. Lots of variables so it's hard to say for sure. In my experience the mountain turkeys are nomadic. Here one year, then somewhere else the next. They have a lot of room to roam. There are places they seem to be every year. Most of those places I've encountered are at lower elevations or in unique places that have all a turkey needs. Turkeys tend to follow the snow line up the mountain, but some stay low, while others move to higher ground. YMMV...

That makes sense. Thanks for the info! I have never hunted turkeys in the mountains so I wasn't sure. I keep thinking I will get a fall archery tag one of these years and try to pop one when we are hiking back to our elk hunting area. A nice big turkey breast on the campfire would be awesome.

Maybe one year ill try to get out there during the spring and have some fun.
