Colorado Maps for UTV/ATV

ATV can be used on BLM. The problem with BLM & Nat For is that each NF & BLM area sets its own rules and publishes their own maps. You will have to pick the area & contact them.

On BLM lands in Utah it is up to the district on what they allow. Some areas you can ride a ATV anywhere, cross country or on roads where other areas area highly restricted. Forest service is easy. You can not ride it off of designated trails period. For Forest Service trails you would be best off by contacting the local ranger district. They usually have maps available for free that will show you where you can and can not ride.
One source for the Forest Service and BLM maps is The Map Center. The maps will show public and private but not real good on where you can and can not ride. I frequently stop at Forest Service offices in Utah and will pick up their trail maps on where you can ride.

Not necessarily the case everywhere...as you said. Our local FS people allow game retrieval up to 300 yds off established trails....only during hunting season.

I was referencing my local area for his post. They catch you much further off of the road or trail than a legal camping spot and they come down hard on you.
But I do agree that different areas have different rules, that is where the OP need to check with the local ranger district for both FS and BLM lands.

Another thing that you need to contend with now in Colorado is where the Forest Service and County government are closing off roads to ATV's unless they are registered for the highway. The kicker here is that there is no way to register a ATV for the highway here in Colorado.
I had a friend that brought his Side by Side over last year to hunt with. He was stopped by a Forest Service Enforcement officer and was about to get a ticket when he told the officer that the vehicle was registered for the highway which can be done in Utah. He also had a Colorado ATV sticker on the machine so he was covered. They let him go on his merry way.
