Spent the weekend thinking about my 2025 Elk, Deer & Antelope hunting here in Colorado. Pretty much made up my mind what tags I am applying for and where I want to hunt. No Wyoming this year....point for deer and antelope only.

How about you?

Going to see if I can draw my unit 44 muzzle loader deer for the third year in a row.

Points for antelope and elk and then see about picking up a leftover tag for cow elk unless I decided go go with a OTC bull tag and hunt with a buddy down in unit 32.

Wyoming will just be points again and then look at cashing them in next year. I should have enough for a pretty good antelope and deer unit, but will concentrate on antelope.

Utah, I have a lifetime deer tag so that will be a muzzle loader tag. Just where I haven't decided yet. I may head back down along the Colorado and Green Rivers, there are some huge river bucks down there if you can find them. I'll cross my fingers for a antelope tag.

I put in for a Wyoming Elk tag with 0 points so I have about a 6% chance of drawing, so unless I get really lucky it will be just points for me.

Still thinking about my Colorado plan, I need another elk point for my first choice, and a couple years away from another deer tag, so likely will be second or third rifle elk for me. Will see what happens with NM draw - that’s always the wildcard.

Wife and I were supposed to hunt the Thorofare in Wyoming for elk this year, but the outfitter offered to push us to 2026 to get one more point and likely guarantee the tag. Points everywhere else.

I'm in for only points this year in CO most likely. I have a ID whitetail tag and should get my MT deer and WY antelope. Who knows if I'll get lucky in UT or NV and in OR I should have my blacktail MZ tag.

Now that I'm based out of Casper!!!

-Try and use my Wyoming non res antelope and deer points this year. Sept / Oct
-Continue to let the girlfriend draw all these terrible resident Wyoming hunts. Oct - Jan
-Type 2 Wy elk tag for me. Nov
- AK caribou . Sept

For those of you that didn't know this. Mallards is screwed. His daughter came to our Colorado camp last year and harvested a 6 x 6 bull and great looking black bear.

" Its not that hard Dad"
"Elk behind every tree"
"Why don't you and Mom punch more tags"
" Id like to do something more challenging "
" This elk thing sure is easy"

I can handle the verbal abuse from the child.....Its the taxidermy bills that hurt me the most....1 elk, 2 whitetails, 3 bears and a mountain lion....SHIZA, that hurt the wallet.

Thanks for the invite. I know you were on the fence about letting this old Georgia fox in your henhouse....but here all along it was the kid you needed to be worried about, and she is already asking if we can do it again....lol :D

As far as 2025 applications go for us, we don't have any real plans. Hoping to get something for the kid again. The wife and I have pretty much put our weapons down for now and are just getting points across the board in all the usual states. We might burn our decade of preference points in SD this year on a deer hunt.

A lot rides on what tags we can get for our kid.

Good luck to everyone in the draws.
