Colorado Elk Unit 500

Well a buddy and I drew first rifle season elk tags in Unit 500. With maps and chips in hand (we like to try and cover the basics.) I thought I would toss out a line and see if anyone had anything to share on this unit. A few locals have told us the fishing is good but didn't say anything about the elk.

In the north Michigan, John and French drainages. To the south Tarryall. In all those drainages though I'd be concentrating on the far western upper parts bordering 37. Gonna need a good glassing spot in there to cover as much ground with your eyes before making a move. That info is a few years old but I suspect still good.

Thanks for the info Slugs! It will be a fun and interesting hunt. This will be my first elk hunt with a tag. I hope to be eating better than tag soup come the end of October.
