Is it just me or did a lot of zones cut their non-resident tag numbers?

It appears that point holders came out of the woodwork this year. Almost all of the zones I was looking at increased by a minimum of a point.

Just curious and only slightly disappointed since I wasn't trying for a tag this season anyhow.

We put in for some hunts that should have been guaranteed (they were last year) and none of us drew. Went from 100% first choice and 50% second choice to not even drawing on first choice. Either tags were dropped, a whole lot more people applied, or both. Either way kinda sucks for me, but sounds like some of ya'll have some great tags!

Certain areas had a tough winter and tags were cut, others had tag increases. I was actually surprised that I drew my first choice deer tag as they had cut the tags in half.

Yeah I just looked at the 2017 stats. Double the applications for my unit with a slight drop in tags makes for a blown up points game. Point creep of 2 pts.

Yes it doesn't add up in some GMUs. I thought there was always a non resident percentage given out. I thought it was 15% always , but I appear to be clearly wrong.

In the unit two of us applied in last year, the 8 NR tags were cut to 4. But, enough guys like me jumped to other units, and we would have drawn with our points. This unit is in the heart of the tough winter area, and who knows if there will be a hun-table population at all.

The unit I'm looking at increased a single point for the 4th season buck tag. However, the antelope unit I've been eyeing has drop one point to now only needing 10 points, which has required 11 for the past 2-3 seasons.

The unit we've hunted for many years has always had leftover cow tags for 1st rifle. A buddy applied for either sex 1st choice (0 or 1 pts to draw normally) and a cow 2nd choice. He didn't draw either so obviously no leftovers! Pretty weird as we've always picked up a cow tag in the leftovers for probably the last 8-10 years.
