I am mid 30s archer looking for any helpful info I can get on gmu 421. I will be attempting OTC for elk in a few weeks and look to hit the ground running. I have taken a few animals on public land including an elk in unit 30 so the terrain should be somewhat familiar to what I experienced there at Douglas pass. Alot of blood sweat and tears packing out and I am ready for the torture again. This time unit 421 or 42 is where I want to focus. I know its a crowded ATV unit im OK with this. Any pointers are greatly appreciated and I could return the favor to anyone coming to Texas. I will be hunting with a friend and will have a kawasaki mule. We are ready to drive miles in and hike many more in search of opportunity at a legal bull or cow.
At first glance I am thinking hightower area, bear gulch, also silver spruce trail and areas near bull basin. I would like to say I will have 7 solid days actually in the area so I have time to get it done.
