As usual, they got some money out of me.

$237.50 from my family for not even touching dirt in the state. (PP-D-E-A)

It sure is expensive every year applying across the west.

To put it into perspective:

In Georgia I get the following points for FREE for everyone:

Alligator
Deer
State Park Deer
Dove
Hog
Turkey
Waterfowl

Apply here if your interested. Its free. Some of the better quote hunts produce some good bucks and some of the better turkey hunts are really good.

JimP had no issues buying a combo license here. My dad is burning his points for a hell of a bull tag. I'm in for points for the most part, as for my wife. KS and WY have some time built up for those hunts. Long term plan has points for me in a lot of states this year

That's interesting. I looked the site over a half dozen times looking for the combo license and all I found was the small game license for $29.75 I also didn't find anyplace to purchase my fishing license either.

I am officially a old fart so my fishing license will only be $9.75 but you would think that it would be listed. Perhaps they take into consideration what I purchased last year since I bought the two licenses separately instead of a combo.

But it is good to know that the combo license is on the page to purchase even if I didn't see it.

I haven't started yet myself, but a couple local guys told me they were only able to buy the hunting license and when they called were told the fishing wouldn't be available until next month.
Not sure what's going on

Any suggestions or ideas to get some use out of this small game permit i'm forced to buy?
I wouldn't use a shotgun during the elk hunt, but you could do so during your scouting time. I prefer to carry a .22 pistol before the hunt, and have it available at camp to use during the hunt if the right circumstances come up. On my 13 days in #44 a couple years ago I could have easily gotten a dozen grouse with my .22, and a lot more than that with a shotgun. I looked up the regs and you can use a rimfire, or a centerfire if it is less than 23 cal. So, another option is a .223; Check the regs. carefully though, as some seasons don't open until later in the year.

It can all be on the same transaction but you need to add the small game license to the cart before it will let you into the application process for the other animals.

Yep, first put the small game license in your "shopping cart" (make sure it's the one for 2019), then you can go through each of your applications and pay one time at the end.

Interesting.

For some reason it would not allow me to do that.

Not that I dont believe you. But that didn't work for me or my wife's application. I wish it did because that was a PITA.

I'm in for points only.. Have the points to draw a few of the archery elk hunts I'm interested in, but a new baby this July is gonna put the skids on my elk season for this fall. Will most likely be using those elk points next fall.

Mine are all in. 98.25 as a resident with combo license. To get the combo you have to go to fishing and click annual. It's in there.
Random assortment that could likely get me nothing at all or a few things really good.

I sent a question into the CP&W about the combo license and their reply was that because I am over 64 that the combo was unavailable for me. Funny but last year when I was over 64 a combo was available.

Also I had no options to purchase a fishing license until today so I spent my $10 with them for my old fart fishing license. I did notice that I won't be purchasing a second rod stamp anymore since they are now $10 and with the limit only being 4 trout I don't think that I need one. With trout being the only fish that I fish for that I use bate, except for catfish. So they lost a few buck from me when they raised that price.

I noticed the extra rod stamp also. Actually had it in my cart but removed it. I was ok with 5 bucks but 10 is too much for something I never used anyway.

As a NR, my total for the application (CO deer, elk/fishing, small game), came to $99.75. It would be an additional $10 for the habitat stamp, but that is exempted because I am over 65. If I draw the elk and deer tags it will cost an additional $1,058.50 I have always made a donation for S&R and habitat, but won't happen any more.
