Hello Everyone,
It looks like my cousin and I have decided to put in for an archery tag in Colorado this year. We have an average of 4 points and think we have some units narrowed down. We are in pretty good shape, and should be in really good shape by august. I just had some general timing questions about unit 55 and 551. (The best guess at the moment, willing to accept any advice against these choices)
With the season running August 27-September 25 this year would anyone recommend going later than opening weekend? We really like to be in Idaho for the second and third weeks of September for an archery hunt.
How long would you suggest spending in these units? 4-7 days? or 7-10? We have limited hunting in Colorado. We hunted unit 21/30 5 and 7 years ago and didn't need a week to be there. He shot a buck the first day of that hunt and i waited until day 3. We saw a lot of bucks each day but nothing over 150-160 mark. If we saw a 4point each day we would be more than happy.
Thank you for any information you can provide, and good luck in the drawings and season to all.
