Hi! I am planning on a 5-day trip to try for Archery Elk SOLO in Unit 37. I hunted worldwide, but never for Elk and wanted to try once by my own. I picked this Unit because it seems to be a lot of public land and high density of game.
I have a couple of doubts:
1.- Is private and public land clearly marked? I don't want to step into anybody's land.
2.- Anybody that hunted here knows if there is a certain concentration of game?
3.- Is it necessary to go over 11,000ft, above timberline, or elk typically dont go that high and stay lower?
Thank you!

I suggest that you pick up a map that has the public and private marked and study it. Private land in Colorado does not need to be marked in anyway, it is up to the hunter to know where he is at all times. If you have a GPS I will suggest a OnXMaps chip that will show you right where you are located at.

Elk will be where you find them. In the areas that I hunt I'll find a lot of them around 8500'-9,000' with the peaks at 10,000'.

The animals will move, I have never hunted the unit but find a high spot and start to glass until you find them then go after them.
