551 3rd season would be great but you probably can't draw on 8 this year. 54 3rd season would be great as well.

With the seasons set back to later dates expect a point or two of point creep this year. I think applicants will be coming out of the woodwork to apply this year.

Your just out of reach on some really great units for 3rd and 4th rifle but right in there for the high country hunts muzzle loader hunts and 2nd season. What are your goals for your hunt?

I prefer high country hunts Mzl fine. Mostly concerned about my body. I used to solo backpack the high country up to 11,000' but had some health issues last two years. And no longer in great shape I used to be before that. Goal would be to beat my last buck that's all. And be able to see decent number of bucks. I can hunt two full weeks and willing to go home empty handed if no quality bucks seen.

I know nothing but my thought on the reduction in points to draw 54 is this: The 4th season was added last year so some guys tried to draw that and a lot of guys are waiting for this year with the better season dates.

gmu 15 4th could be a good hunt this year it is very dependent on late seaon to bring out the big bucks and the rut would help as well NR takes 7 points. You could also hunt 66,67 2nd rifle. But 551 is probably one of your better hunts for 3rd season with it not taking as many points as others.

I agree with 67 2nd as an option, could be a great hunt depending on winter kill. He wouldn't draw a 66 2nd, it took 9 NR points last year and will likely take 10-11 this year.
