Hey All,

I'm originally from Casper, and after 3-1/2 years in Alaska, I'm moving back to Wyoming, only this time Cheyenne. What are everybody's thoughts, opinions, knowledge, etc. of the Cheyenne area for hunting goats, mulies, and coyotes? It looks like it's a lot of private land, but I do see some Walk-in areas around. Never hunted around Cheyenne, so I don't know much about the area.

Stig- SE Wyoming has some huge mulies! I have seen mulies in the Pole mountain are go over 200". I have also seen nice deer coming off the plains east of town. You are right that there is a lot of private land, and they watch it pretty close. The Laramie peak area has nice deer you can hunt on a general tag, or head over to the Snowies. Snowies are a little harder as it is in the forest. I think goats tend to be a little smaller around there, but I did see a monster 2 years ago while hunting cow elk just a couple miles east of Laramie. Not really sure about the dogs, but if you hit up some farmers and ranchers they might let you on.

Thanks for the info Wyoming_man. Are you from the area? I will likely be doing some scouting as soon as i get there this summer. Still going to put in for the areas I know around Casper for this year, but if I learn a bit, I may switch areas next year to stay closer to home.

I am in Laramie and grew up over by Rawlins. I like hunting all over the state, but gas prices limit that now. Get ahold of me when you get here and I will show you around.

Appreciate it. I will send you a PM when I get there. I'm putting in for the Casper area tags I know this year, but I would love to know some areas closer to Cheyenne better.
