Cheap Backpack / packframe?

I really need a 2nd backpack/packframe for our upcoming elk hunt, DIY archery.

part of me is thinking about buying a cheapo $100 style pack...

I have an external pack frame with bag etc... that somehow I got the steal of a lifetime on, I think it was $50, very similar to cabelas alaskan backpack/pack frame for $150... should have bought 2 at the time... but at the time I didn't even need 1... haha, let alone 2.

If I were to buy a nice one I think I'd get "the one" from eberlestock, but those are 300 bucks I think?

trying to get some advice...

of course everything is already starting to add up...

also what do you think of an internal frame vs. external? both can pack out elk quarters?

also what do you think of just a pack frame without a backpack/pack/bag attached to it...

Maybe HuntPrep365 will come on and say something about the pack he is using for a 2-week elk bivy hunt this fall. Think it is a LL Bean Hunter's Carryall with a cuben (spelling???) fiber sack lashed in. I've seen him carry moderately heavy loads with it this summer and it has performed flawlessly so far. Under $75 I'm pretty sure.

What about military surplus? I humped a large alice around for 4 years, and I never had a problem with it (of course, I was in a lot better shape back then). Does anybody use that stuff? I know there have been a few new style packs since then (molle??).

kelty vanranger is a quality pack and you can pick one up for pretty cheap right now. i like mine more than my eberlestock, and half the price. also hold bow and rifle better than any other pack ive tried. comes in handy when packing in several miles.

Large Alice for me when I have cargo to haul. Day pack any other time.
