I still heat my house with wood in ne Ohio. I know it doesn't get as cold as Wyoming and Montana but its still a considerable amount of wood every year. I still do it old school as well. Always have a hand file in the woods with me if needed for a touch up . I really try not to sharpen unless really needed. I also don't touch the rakers until i absolutely need to. I can really get tgem pretty sharp in 5 minutes so i have just not understood the reason to do it another way. 1 other tip i do is i mark the first tooth with a sharpie so i know where i started.
