Thinking about making the leap into a digital SLR camera. A friend at work wants to sell me a Canon ESO 60D with a Tamron Af 18-270 mm f/3.5-6.3 Di 11 vcld lens for $400. The camera and lens are in excellent shape. It looks like from all the research I've done its a good deal and a very decent camera. Want to get back into photography now that all my film cameras have been dead for 10 years. . What do you think, good deal or not?

60D is a good camera body. Not current state of the art, but plenty good. That lens will be a decent all around lens to start with, but you'll soon find yourself wanting more lenses. Always more glass.... :)
