I drew one of 15 Northeastern General bull tags here in CA.

The dates are awesome from 9/18 - 9/29. I think I can get one scouting trip in August and also 5 days of scouting before season starts.

I understand he is a real good hunting partner. Does all of the scouting, field dresses the deer and packs it out, brings the food, and pays for the gas! You guys really did luck out! But, wait! I think he drew D-14-right?
Partly true the Saw, Don't pay for all of gas or food. Sierra Intruder did all my scouting for X12 last year. Only helped cut up and pack out his deer. I was his mule. I only cut up and pack out for old guys. Yeah, it's be D12 not D14. Oh, I don't mind cooking either. It's a bachelor thing you know...

What did I miss? Did you pull X12 last year for deer? If so, a belated congrats from me on getting that tag. How did I miss that post? How did you do on the hunt Don? Did you hunt rifle or bow? It's so much harder to get that tag now days. I may have to go to a more primitive weapon for better odds...... :(

Hey Kevin !
I posted last year I drew it and think I wrote a little story about it. my two friends killed bucks. One a 24 in. 4x4 w/eyegaurds. other a 3x4. I hunted with rifle. First trip a say a couple forkies and last evening took a 630 yd shot...at a nice 4x4 that stopped coming down the mtn. near dark thirty. shot high twice. The second trip the last 4 days of season we hunted. That's when the two bucks were taken. passed on forky. Jumped a wide 3x3 w/eyegaurds but couldn't get a shot. Next day spotted him laying down at 583 yds. Looking at me. Hit rock in front of his chest twice. He got up and shot high. Maybe the ending is in the Calif. forum or X12 ? Sawfish said the cut the tags from 860 to 680 this year.

Drew my Xzone tag but struck out on elk, antelope and sheep. Hopefully this will be the year. I have pulled the tag twice in the past but have eaten a tag both times.(have only seen small bucks) We are going to try a new area this year so we shall see. Good luck to all this season!

Yea, I was just up there a couple weeks back poking around and backpacking in the higher country above the Leavitt Meadows pack station, several miles in. I was going to check out the Bodie Hills some too to see what was down lower but did not have much time. I think I must have been gone and missed that thread. Typically seeing X12 I would have looked at at least for the memories and to cheer you on...

860 down to 680 makes the odds go down so much more. Unless I try with a more primitive weapon for better odds it's just that many more years before getting drawn. I have a friend that's fed up with waiting that long. He is at 5 points now and waiting and I think he may just not put in for there again after he draws.

Drew my archery X zone tag. Two good bow tags this year...........Hell Ya !!!!
Good for you packer58. I hope you kill some critters with those tags. Makes me want to switch to a more primitave weapon to get a better odds on these limited entry units. It's getting hard to hike them and not be able to hunt them other than hunt the preditors were allowed to hunt still.

I remember you posting on that thread ! I'd like to go back there knowing what I know now. If you ever draw let me know.
