I am looking at a used rifle at a Cabelas store. Will they negotiate off their asking price? Any of you members purchased a used gun from Cabelas?

I just recently purchased a used gun from cabelas and they are willing to negotiate if the gun has been in their inventory for a long period of time. When I bought the gun I got an automatic 10 percent off the asking price because they were running a promotion too. So sometimes if you catch it just right, they will run small discounts on there used guns

Had the gun library guy come see our tables at the last gun show we did, he wanted to buy 4 of our Savage 99's......at 60% of the price I was asking. I kindly said no way :)
They have plenty of room on those, now whether they will budge is probably another story.

A few years ago my son and I were in Texas hog & turkey hunting at a friends place in Eastland. We had done very well on both species and decided to drive to Dallas/Ft. Worth to go to Cabelas. They had a huge used gun sale going on. I was told that there were 5000 used guns on sale. My son and both found a couple of guns we were interested in and talked to a sales person. He told us "Make an offer". I could not get the gun ( Weatherby O/U shotgun) I was looking at for MY price, but my son ended buying one at his offered price. Bottom line is they would deal....at least at that time & place.

Hi Mr Drysdale,

Not all that long ago I found a pristine Sako AV at Cabelas Gun Library. Judging by the photos, the gun appeared brand new. A lady at Cabelas told me that it used to belong to a collector. The asking price was $1,200. I offer a grand. It was accepted. I took it to a Sako gunsmith. He said it was never fired. So Cabelas will negotiate, and from my experience, guns are as advertised.

I wish you the best of luck.

They gave me a 10% military discount on atleast 1 gun. I was looking at a shotgun at their club members only sale and they would not discount it more then 10%. If you find a gun you like online you can call that store and have it sent to another store for $25 without committing to buying it too.

My brother is an avid collector and he tells me Cabelas works on a 40% markup in their used gun library. He really knows his stuff on collectible guns (I don't) and he tells me he has made a few really smoking deals when they've had something not recognized as highly collectible. So the above tale of a gun priced at $1,200 and sold for $1,000 sounds like just like what my brother said, and everyone involved got a fair deal.
