I occasionally look at the deals in Cabela?s Bargain Cave. Tonight I saw the Polartech ECWCS Polar Weight base layer that I wear on sale for $29.88. I retrieved my credit card to order. Sold Out! I continued to view other items but noticed very few items in there. Looks like my favorite base layer may be discontinued. I am a little worried about what this merger may do away with.

You have to figure that the on line bargain cave is for factory close outs or odd ball items that they want to get rid of. I have look at boots and unless you have a size 5 or 18EEE they won't have it in the cave for sale.

Now the stores are a little bit different. All their returned merchandise that is deemed re saleable will go into it. That is where you get fantastic buys. With their old return policy I have seen where someone has used something and then returned it and since it was used it went into the bargain cave. Then if you really wanted it you could go back in a week later and pick it up for half price.

Not saying that I did that but I have accused others of doing it.

I just went in and checked it out and found all kinds of items for sale in it. Perhaps not just what you are looking for but it looks like it is going strong.

The online cave is way down from what it was. I check it daily.
Possibly partly because between seasons. Winter closeout mostly gone. Summer closeout not started yet.
That said I just snagged a pair of mto50 pants for 80. Usually like 240 or something.

That would suck if they discontinued the bargain cave. I also have picked up some great gear there.

I stopped shopping in the bargain cave when they started marking stuff down 10%....If its in the bargain cave and costs 100 it should be listed at 50$.... not 90$.....

This has been a trend of theirs for the last several years. Ticks me off.

I too have noticed this trend over the past few years. Some of those items are, on average, fair condition at best for $10-$15 off a $200-$300 item. I'd rather pay the extra $10 and have the warranty and new product. I don't mind buying used, but it needs to be priced accordingly to how well used the product actually is. I still run through the cave in the event there may be something of value priced accordingly, but do it very quickly.

I usually look for the "deals" when they go off price. Bought some good stuff at reasonable prices that way. I have been a Cabelas customer for many years, but with the merger, I'm not quite sure it will be as good. Time will tell.

never been much of a cabelas fan. can most always find it elsewhere ,cheaper.
the mounts in the store are cool but after a trip or two ,I PRETTY MUCH STOPPED LOOKING AT EM ANYHOW.
would rather give my business to a store with less pomp, that doesn't have to inflate their prices to pay for the show.

I never buy in-store other than guns off the used rack. Gotten some awesome deals if they're not sure what they really have.

I only do online bargain cave. I've never paid more than half price and only with free shipping. Plus the tax cheaper online.

I use my Cabela's card for everything in life. Plus I have friends who buy expensive things. They give me cash, I pay with my card. Pay it off as soon as it hits the card.
In about 8 years I've never paid a cent of interest, maintain a black card this way.
I've gotten over 3k in free stuff using my points after they build up.
