Ca,az,nv,ut. How expensive is colorado? I have never looked into it because it cost so darn much to put in for elk and deer!
Expensive!!!!!! You need dang near six grand upfront for sheep, goat and moose. You get it all back and there is no cost for preference points but you need a decent chunk of cash to play the game.

I put in for Wyoming;mostly because I don't have to tie up my money. I'm talking about just buying points, not putting into the draw. I think I'd look at Cabelas TAGS service if I wan't to apply in all applicable states. They front all the money, of course they don't front it all and not cost you fees. Like you say, you have to pay if you want to play. Sometimes I think it may just be better to pay for a hunt up in alberta for sheep and moose. Its really expensive but at least you don't have too play the waiting game.

The high plains of Colorado
There has been a lot of talk on different threads about how much tags cost, how long I have to wait to get my money back, why it takes so long after the draw, my money is being used, etc....... I understand how tough the dollar is to earn these days . I am 51 years old and believe me when I was younger the money sent out for use on tags in different states was tough and fortunately it is now getting easier, but I look at it this way. More than anything else, by far, I spend more time with my horses, hunting and scouting, planning and anything associated with the pursuit and I will do just about anything to get out of work to do this. If my only gripe is that the division holds on to my money too long but I get it all back or damn near all of it back then I should be greatful. If you stop and think of all the things that you pay for and don't recieve anything in return for ( I am talking about my taxes being spent on programs for others ). I can bitch sometimes about the divisions policies and what I would do if I was them but by and large as long as I can hunt, have quality hunts and enjoy my hunts then i don't mind them using my money. If they didn't use my money they would have to make it up somewhre else ( higher license fees). I understand the higher fees for out of state licenses and think that some tags are just crazy pricey but what can you do. It is supply and demand and I don't see the demand going down. Hate the game don't hate the player!

Yup, BKC, I agree totally. You have to pay for what you love to do, plain and simple! That being said it still hurts the wallet!

WY isn't worth it imo, I wouldn't start applying here if I didn't have any points, ie you have 0 pts, guys have 17pts... how long before you have max points? If anything apply and try to draw a random tag, but not a max points tag, I would never pay the $100 for the sheep bonus point, total waste of cash. 75% of tags go to max point holders.

CO is expensive for the non-res!

I applied in WA last year for sheep, didn't apply this year, they doubled their application fees and it's just not worth it IMO, horrible odds, expensive to apply.

I wonder how many guys would be better off just booking an AK dall sheep hunt and saving all these app fees, especially guys who will never draw the tags they apply for.

Essentially I'm at the point that I won't apply for a tag that I won't draw in my lifetime.
