Bucks

Last night I was watching 2 bucks I have been following for just over a month. Both bucks hang out around 9000ft and are very hard to judge if they are going to grow much larger. My question is how much more growth should occur in the next month on these bucks before I write them off as hopefuls for next year. FYI they both are 3 point bucks in full velvet and very wide and tall, one appears to be adding a little extra tip maybe growing into a four pointer.
What is normal growth this time of year in Nevada. Should I expect them to grow much bigger?

Another couple bucks I have nailed down are still just starting the growth of there main beams.

Now I'm even more confused. Three bucks at my house close to Yosemite have zero velvet and one little guy is still in velvet. I never had time this year to follow the progression of growth on any of them is why I'm wondering if the Bigger Bucks I have been watching will keep growing.

The bucks I've seen bucks in Nevada during the last week of August in the Ruby's were in full velvet. I don't know when they start stripping the velvet off up there.

no, don't expect much more growth, you may find a little more but that almost 4th point will stay an almost 4 point this year. on Thursday I watched a big 4x4 that was hard horned and his 3 smaller 4x buddies were all in velvet, one of them had velvet hanging off. they all don't drop at same time, the big buck that was hard horned prob dropped his sheds early and the other boys few weeks or even a month later.

There are probably 97% done by now.

And that's being liberal, probably more like 99%

Sorry , I always called the start of antler growth before any forks as the main beam. Grandpa's terms he used since the early 20's and no longer around.

The bucks up high started working at getting there velvet off this week.
