For those that do not use boots that can be recrafted, how long do the soles last on your glued/welded footwear? I'm really not keen on dropping $300 for boots that last for one season.

i wore resole boots for about three years. three years of fire seasons and hunting. went with the mountaineering style boot and i will never look back. there is a ton of them. sportiva, lowa, kennetrek. i have a pair of sportivas that cost a lot less than my resolable boots and have been going on them for three solid years. and they see some nasty terrain. a lot of lava rock and chuckar country in my neighborhood. best of luck and happy new year

Check with Lathrop and Sons on Hanwag boots. They are mountaineering/hiking style boots AND are resoleable.

I was looking at the Alaska model earlier. Almost choked at $344 price tag. They also sell Danners which I like and they're running a special on those with their Synergy insoles.
Plus I can try on Danner boots at Cabela's. I'm kinda reticent to spend that kind of cash on footwear I can't try on first. Is Lathrop & Sons good with returns?

Mendel (sp?) by Cabelas is quite impressive. I'm on my 3rd year and love them. If you're headed there, probably worth checking out.
Will do. I had looked at a Meindl hiker - Perfekt(?) - for general hiking out here so I'll see what's on their wall for more hunting-related stuff.
if your not liking them. check out backcountry.com. they are one of the best warrany and return place i have purchased from. i know they have a wear them for a year, if you don't like them 100% refund polocy. also, make sure it has a heel on it. (not a flat sole) for carrying weight is a must
That's nice to hear. 
Cabela's was almost a waste of time. Maybe due to the end of the season sale, or just it being in Phoenix, but the selection was pretty slim. The Cabela's/Meindl Alaska Hunter they had on display didn't even have another pair in back to try on. I only tried on two pair since the place was swamped with people.

Seconded. If you don't want to pay up for Kennetreks or Lowa's I found the perfect 10 to be a good value. The first hunt I did in them they hurt a little on the break in, but they are good to go now, on my 2nd year.
