I'm not sure if this has been posted. The black powder Hunter broke the golden rule and didn't indentify his target. Sad situation all around.

That’s pretty crazy to have mistaken a hunter for a elk.

In the article states he saw white. I'm pretty sure this area is 4pt or better and you need to verify if the elk is legal before shooting. I wondering if the season was ending and he got an itchy trigger finger. I was taught by my dad you always indentify your target before shooting.

I went to high school with Greg (the deceased). He was an absolute character and loved the outdoors. It's a real shame what happened.

Awful, awful stuff; we all readily own our successes, but sadly also our failures. We all need to be careful out there. No critter is worth someone's husband, brother, or father. It's easy to be preachy, but we all need to be vigilant; stop and think before we do something we simply cannot fix no matter how hard we try. This isn't a catch an release game that we play. Not much more that I have to say; prayers for the deceased and their families.
