Big Buck from the 50's

How's this for a California buck? He is a 32 inch 4X5 that was killed near Bishop back in the 50's. He has a short left main beam but still a "shooter"! The antlers have been hanging in a barn in the Sierra Valley for many years and recently were given to a friend of mine. I'm puting them on a plaque for him.

That is a nice looking buck bigmoose. The Bishop area and the Sierra mountains in that area have some cool history. I've heard stories on how it was back in the 50's and early 60's and I wish I could have hunted it back then. It is a beautiful mountain range.

There is a bar in Rio Vista (west of Stockton) which I can't remember the name of, that has the most awsome collection of huge California deer I have ever seen. Most are pre WWII. I seem to remember a few from out of state too. Anyway if you are ever in that area, stop and have a beer and drool!

Colorado Cowboy...I think you might mean Foster's Bighorn. Yes, there are some awesome mounts from around the world. There are many mule deer mounts and at least one (from Modoc county) makes the book. Many sheep heads also. You are right, it is a great place to spend an afternoon having lunch and a few drinks and checking out all the heads and memorabilia. The bar/restaurant had been closed for awhile but it now open again and I see they've got a FB page also.

Hey Moose ! Unbelievable mass on that rack. I'm in process of mounting a set of deer and antelope horns for my son and an elk rack of mine also. Ready to apply leather. That's a great find and glad it didn't get lost. There have been some monsters come out of the Sierra's. Colorado Cowboy knows all to well. He got to hunt the heydays. Still waiting on that book C.C.....
