Hey guys, i'm setting on 9 elk PP's and looking to cash in next year or the following. With the way point creep is going i'll never have enough points for the better units such as 61. My problem is that i have plenty of PP to hunt quite a few good units but not enough PP to hunt the premier units. I'm looking for unit suggestions for either muzzle loader or rifle.

Thanks Chuck

Nonresident........but don't hold that against me :)
I wouldn't... ;)

I was going to say, since you mentioned unit 61, that if you were a resident one of the less desirable rifle seasons takes less points than archery and muzzy. Since you aren't a resident those seasons in 61 probably take lots of points too? I don't know, you would have to look. Like you mentioned...your in a gray area with that many points where you have more than most decent units take but not enough for the best units. I would look at 2nd or 3rd season rifle 61 or maybe unit 49??? Maybe someone else has a better suggestion? Good luck!

Paker58, I was in your situation about 12 years ago. I was stuck in the middle and decided to keep collecting points, But I was a resident. I got in before the point creep set in but it looks as if your behind the curve on that one. How old are you? Do you have time to burn them now and start collecting again or are you looking at a one and done scenario?

BKC,

I'll be a young 55 next season. That being said there are no guaranties when your health is the issue. At this point i'm looking for the best bang for my buck with 9/10 PP's. Once these points are gone i will probably run up 2/3 PP's and apply for statewide muzzleloader. I have a lot of other irons in the fire so if i draw Colorado every 2/3 years i'm in good shape.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out with this.

Packer58, How are you with a bow? or are you looking at ML or rifle?
I'm fine with a bow, shoot all the time. However my brother in law had shoulder surgery a few years back and can no longer draw a bow, so for this hunt i would be looking at M/L or rifle. We have been building points together so i have to hunt with what he's comfortable with, otherwise it would be archery all the way.
