I'm a fan of a lot of the red dirt bands right now. Not all of it is good but it seems to fit my style more than today's country radio plays.
Yes, I can't handle the bro country the radio plays, but I do like some red dirt country - Josh Abbot, Turnpike Troubadours, Randy Rogers Band, Jason Boland, etc. Not Red Dirt, but Dalton Domino is pretty good.
My favorite right now though, is Whiskey Myers, they're starting to get big, so I'd recommend seeing them live at a smaller venue while you still can. They're probably more Southern Rock than they are country, but they're excellent. Great lyrics, and the band is fantastic.
