When Guy & the Eastman's rank units, what is the cut-off criteria for what they consider "low points", numerically?

I was reading an article Guy wrote and was wondering how many points you needed to be in that pool, either regular pref point draw, or the special.

Curious too, how/if that number has changed over the years since the WY point system started.

I’ll see if Guy will chime in here and answer your question.

Scott probably know this answer too.

Are you referring to the Top Antelope Area article, where he references his best low points unit at the end? If so, you could draw it last year in the special draw with no points, and in the regular with 5. In the special draw, that unit has hovered around 2-5 points to draw over the last 4 years.

Fink,

I did see that article; but no, what got my gears turning was the recent one on deer that was linked in the Eastman's email newsletter last week. Good info [emoji106] TY

You and how many other guys? These releases tend to cause a jump in interest for those units. Good luck.

Rich,

I just want to understand what the Eastman's are using as a cut-off numerically for preference points, when they categorize units as 'low-points' units in their articles and the MRS. Nothing more.

Agree, glad the units hunt for deer and antelope don't get a mention. I believe the units listed have multiple criteria especially % of public land.

I may have answered my own question:

roughly looks like between 1/3 to 1/2 of max pts for what is considered "low pts" for deer in the MRS
