Best game bags for elk?

Just looking for some suggestions on the best game bags for elk. Hunted a few years ago and ended up using the cotton bags and wasn't impressed. Planning on a elk hunt in the next year or so and wondering what everyone likes. Thanks for any unput.

I am not sure there still available, but I am a fan of the Remington Big Game Dressing Bags. I found them to be very durable, even using the same bags on two bulls. Surprisingly, they didn't rip to shreds when bone got caught up. They are machine washable and inexpensive (less than $10 @ local Walmart for 4 quarter bags). Best of luck this season. I use the alaskan game bags. Work good for me. How many game bags does take every one for an entire boned out elk?

I've had good success with the alaskan game bags. I've had guys swear by using pillow cases.

These are the ones I use too. They are also sold under the "Allen" brand name, and as far as I know are still available at Walmart and Kmart.

I use the alaskan game bags. Work good for me. How many game bags does take every one for an entire boned out elk?

Alaska game bags didn't work for me when I didn't bone out the meat, bags ripped easily. On the few elk I have been apart of, four bags was enough. Five or six makes loads more manageable. All depends on how you plan on getting the meat out.

I like the Remington bags as well.. I usually take 2 packages. Been using the original 8 bags since I bought them 5 years ago.

They have a kit you can buy for quarters that is pretty good, when you kill you can bag and tag, then hang them with no worries. They also make a very light weight pack saw that is awesome, so you can saw off antlers and not have to pack out the whole head.

Yeah I use the caribou bags as well and are the best bags I've ever used. I used the medium bags for boned out elk per quarter and there is plenty of leftover space.

NwMn Hunter I have used the bags we get corn in here in Mich.They are made of some sort of white woven nylon that breathes and is extremely durable.I have used them since 1994 and can not think how they could be better.You can get new ones at the feed store for .50 ea. they come in 50 or 100lb sizes.They are so durable I think you could wash them and use the same ones for years.Good luck I hope you need them.

The caribou bags are far and above the best for everything. Absolutely a must own. I also have some bags I bought a long time ago for general transport. I think they are laundry bags (cotton)and I think they were from camp more or gander. Work great in camp but don't breathe as well.
