Deals are where you find them. Amazon, forums, e-bay, etc. I have had great luck and some very good prices on demo units from http://www.cameralandny.com/ I've also stumbled on great sales locally, at Cabelas, etc.

Yup. For Zen Ray stuff their website has seconds at better prices than anywhere.
Archerytalk forum has a lot of traffic and some good deals pass through. Pair of refurbished Zen Ray ED3 on there now for $225. Probably take $200 and by all rights those are pretty nice.
Shopping for binoculars never ends until you buy top notch stuff. Someone told me once not to look through better glass than you can afford. Should not have asked to look through the Swarovskis today. Dang it.

If you want to hunt different animals and different terrains you should have different power optics. I have Vortex Diamondback 10X42, Vortex Viper HD 15X56 for spotting from tripod, and Swarovski 20X60X80 spotting scope. I used Alpen 10X42 for about five years, liked them because they are lite and comfortable but had big problem with fog last fall during wet weather and had to replace them with Vortex. I keep Nikon Monarch as back up in my car.

I don't personally own a pair, but I have used the Vortex Diamondbacks and they are solid for the price range. Check Camofire.com often or call them and see if they have some. The 10x42 were under $150 last time I saw them on there, but they were running low.

I don't think you can go wrong with vortex. Im slowly converting all of my optics to them.

Congrats those will do a good job for you. I know there is a lot better glass available, and I'd buy it if you can afford it. That said, I've used $200.00-$350.00 Leupolds and a pair of Vortex I bought used and gave to my son. Both have been used in all conditions and terrain and have worked great. Both have handled the soaking wet brush of OR and AK. Both have great lifetime warranties too.

+1 for Diamondback 10x42.....I liked these so much I got a diamond back scope for my sons rifle, which I really like as well. I then said, " hey both of these are great, how bout the spotter" ....I wasn't as impressed with it though.

Regretting not ordering a pair for my wife's birthday present now.
Went and looked through a pair when I hadn't been looking through Swarovski first. Not bad at all, and a steal for $130.

I purchased, for $219, a pair of Nikon Prostaff 10x42 All-Terrain binos a few months back. Frankly, they are fantastic. Great price, excellent image clarity, very easy on the eyes. I've used them extensively out scouting and they work great.

Check out Occulus optics at bass pro. I bought a pair of 10x42 s 2 years ago and love them! Paid $149.99. And they have a lifetime warranty!
